ABOUT US

The Pacific Northwest Coast Paddling Club proudly features the
Nehalem Bay TideRunners, a women’s dragon boat team making waves since 2012. We paddle in the stunning waters of Nehalem Bay, training three times a week from March through October and competing in races across the region—and beyond. While we race as a women’s team, we welcome male paddlers to join our practices. Beginners and seasoned paddlers alike are encouraged to grab a paddle and join the fun!
As we grow, we’re expanding our reach—building new teams for mixed-gender, youth, and breast cancer survivors. Outrigger canoe teams are also on the horizon.
Our team members are more than paddlers; they’re community members, volunteers, and advocates, dedicated to making a positive impact.
Coming Soon: We’ll be launching new community outreach programs, inviting residents, visitors, businesses, and organizations to experience the joy of paddling. These special paddling sessions will promote teamwork, fitness, water safety, environmental stewardship, and community connection.
What is dragon boating?
Dragon boating is more than a sport—it’s an exhilarating team experience that builds strength, mental focus, and lasting community connections.
Rooted in ancient China over 2,000 years ago, dragon boating blends tradition with high-energy competition. Teams of 10 or 20 paddlers power a sleek, canoe-like boat in perfect sync, guided by a steersperson at the rear and driven by the rhythmic beat of a drummer at the front.
Today, dragon boating is the fastest growing water sport in the world, a global sensation celebrated for its blend of endurance, teamwork, and camaraderie. Whether racing competitively or paddling recreationally, participants experience the thrill of movement, the power of unity, and a deep connection to the water.
More than just a sport, dragon boating promotes fitness, mental wellness, and environmental appreciation—bringing people together, one powerful stroke at a time.
